This event will feature speakers Michelle Oyen, associate professor of biomedical engineering at Wayne State University, and Dorota Grejner-Brzezinska, ERVA PI and vice chancellor for research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Overview:
Women experience a wide range of health challenges across the lifespan, many of which remain difficult to study, diagnose, and treat using traditional biomedical research approaches. Long disease timelines, complex hormonal dynamics, ethical constraints, and limited data have contributed to persistent gaps in understanding and outcomes. These challenges have limited progress in key areas of women’s health research and constrained the development of new prevention, diagnostic, and treatment strategies.
This webinar will explore the findings from the visioning event report. It will examine emerging engineering research directions, highlight opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, and discuss how advances in these areas could reshape women’s health research and care over the next 10 to 25 years.
This webinar is intended to be transdisciplinary and will be relevant to engineering researchers, clinicians, industry partners, research funders, and others interested in advancing women’s health through engineering-based approaches. It will be of particular interest to those working at the intersection of engineering, health, data science, and technology development, and more.
