Webinar Recording: AI Engineering | A Strategic Research Framework to Benefit Society: Findings from the Visioning Event

Engineering stakeholders in the AI engineering space will find this webinar of high interest, as well as academic and industry researchers in electrical and computer engineering, and physics, and biology whose focus is on materials science and development.

Leading the engaging webinar are the visioning event chair and report author, Pramod Khargonekar, vice chancellor for research and distinguished professor of electrical engineering and computer science at the University of California, Irvine, and Birgit (Bea) Braun, principal research scientist, data science & hybrid modeling at Dow, who also served on the ERVA visioning event thematic task force.

Overview

This webinar focused on the findings from the ERVA report that resulted from the visioning event in Atlanta, on November 7-8, 2023, AI a Strategic Research Framework to Benefit Society.

After introductions from the moderator, the panelists give an in-depth overview of key research priorities from the report, AI Engineering } A Strategic Research Framework to Beenfit Society.

Agenda Highlights

The event will focus primarily on:

  • Key idea: Convergence of AI and Engineering as a bi-directional flow leading to a virtuous cycle: Engineering for AI, and AI for Engineering
  • Three grand challenges: Design, Manufacturing, and Operations; AI Engineering for Humans and Society; and National Initiatives for AI Engineering
  • The need for multi-sector collaboration from government agencies, industry, academia, and nonprofits to realize the generational opportunity for AI Engineering.

Who Should Watch?

Engineering leadership in industry and academia as well as those in engineering education, journalists, agencies interested in manufacturing, ERVA community, engineers from multiple disciplines; civil, mechanical, chemical, materials, electrical, data scientists, AI, and robotics.
