Profile

Farshid Ashtiani is an integrated optoelectronics researcher in the silicon photonics department at Nokia Bell Labs. His work focuses on photonic-electronic co-design for computing, communication, and sensing systems. He serves as an OFC committee member and as a guest editor for APL Photonics.

His research on photonic neural networks earned the 2020 Bell Labs First Prize, and he has published in Nature, Nature Photonics, Nature Communications, and Optica. He holds a doctorate in electrical and systems engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
