About Marisa (Maria) Chrysochoou

Marisa (Maria) Chrysochoou is the dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri. Chrysochoou earned a doctorate from Stevens Institute of Technology studying environmental engineering technology and a master’s from Technische Universität Dresden. Her research encompasses soil remediation and land revitalization, environmental justice, and engineering education with a focus on neurodiversity. As principal investigator of the Revolutionizing Engineering Department project “Beyond Accommodation: Leveraging Neurodiversity for Engineering Innovation,” sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Chrysochoou led the transformation of academic practices within and outside the classroom to empower neurodiverse students to embrace their strengths in engineering education and practice.
