Nadia El-Masry is a program director for the Engineering Research Centers in the Division of Engineering Education and Centers at the National Science Foundation. She joined the division in 2019.
El-Masry was a full professor of materials science and engineering at North Carolina State University beginning in 1996. Her research focuses on spin electronic materials and devices for memory applications, as well as semiconductor materials and devices for light-emitting diodes and solar cells.
During her tenure at NC State, she served as a program director (rotator) at NSF for Electronic and Photonic Materials in the Division of Materials Research within the Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences from 2009 to 2012, and as program director for Electronic, Photonic and Magnetic Devices in the Division of Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems within the Directorate for Engineering from 2015 to 2017.
El-Masry has published more than 212 refereed journal articles, delivered 75 invited talks and conference presentations, and holds six issued patents.
