About Michael Jewett

Michael Jewett is a professor of bioengineering at Stanford University. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from UCLA and a doctorate in chemical engineering from Stanford. He completed postdoctoral studies at the Center for Microbial Biotechnology in Denmark and at Harvard Medical School. Jewett was also a guest professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.

His research group focuses on advancing synthetic biology to support planetary and societal health, with applications in medicine, manufacturing, sustainability and education.
