Dawn Tilbury, professor of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science, and a core member of the Robotics Institute, works with faculty across the Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses to identify and prioritize university strengths that aim to address issues that impact future communities. Previously, she led NSF's Directorate for Engineering in its mission to support engineering research and education critical to the nation's future and foster innovations to benefit society. She holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota and earned a master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. She was the inaugural chair of the Robotics Steering Committee and served as an associate dean for research in the College of Engineering. She was elected Fellow of the IEEE in 2008 and Fellow of the ASME in 2012, and is a Life Member of SWE.
