Sarah Vigmostad’s professional interests include research in computational modeling of the physiology, her efforts in engineering broader impacts, and her experience with academic entrepreneurship. Vigmostad has administrative experience as an associate dean, where she is focusing on advancing the college’s commitment to creating a respectful and welcoming environment and supporting initiatives that highlight the importance of global, environmental, and societal contexts in engineering research and education. In her research, she develops and applies computational tools to study a range of physiologic phenomena, including airway mechanics, aortic valve dynamics, and cancer metastasis. Her recent research has led to patents in the field of virtual surgery and cancer diagnostics, launching a start-up company, SynderBio, Inc, which is accelerating access to personalized medicine.
