Janine Pino joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Data Librarian in 2022, bringing with her a master’s degree in information sciences from the University of Tennessee. Her academic background, coupled with her experience as a Catalog Librarian at Pellissippi State Community College and as a graduate instructor in the School of Information Sciences, has provided her with a solid foundation in managing complex information systems.
In her role at ORNL, Janine utilizes Python programming and PowerBI to gather and analyze research intelligence, thereby supporting informed decision-making. Certified in both Scopus and SciVal, she expertly navigates the scientific research landscape, enhancing the library’s ability to pursue data-driven inquiries and solutions.
Beyond her technical and analytical expertise, Janine's role as a certified instructor for The Carpentries underscores her dedication to improving data literacy within the research community. By teaching essential data and computational skills, she empowers researchers to effectively tackle their data challenges, thereby advancing research methodologies and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
